Victoria Park
Victoria Park is one of London, Ontario’s most popular outdoor
destinations. Located in the heart of the downtown core, Victoria Park
is the place to be all year round, providing customers of Big and Tall
London’s Menswear with plenty of fun activities. From summer
celebrations to the Winter Wonderland Walk of Lights, you won’t find a
more festive green space anywhere else in The Forest City.
Take a Walk in the Park
Victoria Park is proud to be a hub of social and recreational
activities in London since 1894. Spanning more than 6 hectares (15
acres), Victoria Park is a rare luxury in London’s busy downtown area.
Named for Queen Victoria, the park was originally designated as a
British military garrison. Customers of London’s Big and Tall Men’s
Clothing Store may be surprised to learn that the park is still used as
a military ground when necessary. Troops have been stationed in the
park during the Second Boer War, World War I and World War II. A number
of monuments pay homage to the park’s military history. Customers of
London’s Big and Tall Men’s Clothing store will find three Crimean War
cannons throughout the park, as well as a Sherman Tank and a cenotaph.
A memorial to the victims of the Ecole Polytechnique massacre in
Montreal is also located in the park.
Winter at the Park
The weather outside may be frightful, but the scenery in Victoria
Park is far too delightful to miss. Each year, Victoria Park is
transformed into a Winter Wonderland attraction, sporting thousands of
Christmas lights and seasonal decoration. Customers of London’s Big and
Tall Men’s Clothing Store will find more than 75,000 lights decorating
the park’s trees as well as displays depicting Santa and his reindeer,
tin soldiers and the nativity scene. Children of all ages can even post
their Christmas wish lists to the North Pole at Santa’s Mailbox.
Customers of London’s big and Tall Men’s Clothing Store will find the
lights illuminating the park from 5pm to 11pm beginning in November.
Outdoor skating is also a part of the Winter Wonderland tradition in
Victoria Park, so don’t forget to pack your skates! Free public skating
is open to customers of London’s Big and Tall Men’s Clothing Store from
10am to 5:30pm and 6:30pm to 10pm (weather permitting).
