variety of historical art at Museum London, spanning more than 150
years of creativity and design. Major exhibits include The Itinerant Artists (1830 – 1855), Early London Artists (1855 – 1880), The First Renaissance (1880 – 1895) and A New Beginning
(1895 – 1960). Customers of London’s Big and Tall Clothing store will
see artists like Ezekiel Seton, William Lees Judson and Albert Templar
on display in these exhibits.
Enjoy Some Contemporary Creativity
Museum London’s Contemporary Art Collection features more than 2500
pieces, covering a wide variety of media representations. More than 840
Canadian and international artists are featured in this collections,
gaining it national attention and acclaim. Many of Contemporary Art
Collection can be viewed on an ongoing basis within the Museum’s four
permanent collection galleries (listed above). The Museum’s collection
currently includes works by local artists Paterson Ewen, Jack Chambers
and Greg Curnoe. Canadian artists currently on display include Joanne
Todd and Barbara Steinman. International artists include David Hockney
from Britain and American Andy Warhol.
Look at What We’ve Found! Local London Artifacts on Display at Museum London
Customers of London’s Big and Tall Clothing Store will find five
different historical artifact collections within Museum London. These
include The Forks (before 1826), Frontier Town (1826-1855), A New City in a New Nation (1855-1885), A Loyal City in a Growing Empire (1885-1914) and Between the Wars
(1920-1949). Each of these collections includes a unique collection of
period pieces, including everything from literature and clothing to
firearms and manufactured goods.
Take a Trip to Eldon House and Take a Trip Back in Time
Customers of London’s Big and Tall clothing store are invited to
explore London’s oldest residence during their upcoming visit to Museum
London. Eldon House, as it is called, has remained virtually unchanged
for more than a century, providing visitors with a unique look at local
history. Items on display in the house include family heirlooms,
furnishings, and 19th century décor. There’s even a re-created 19th
century garden in the back yard. Eldon house hours are as follows:
- January through April: Saturday and Sunday only
- June through September: Tuesday through Sunday
- May and October through December: Wednesday through Sunday

London at 421 Ridout Street North in downtown London. Eldon House is
located just down the street at 481 Ridout Street.
